6/16/09

Place: CCC

Present: Pastor Wang, Briant Chea, Flora Chen

1. Prayer
2. Meeting with Briant Chea

              A. Briant will participate the Labor Day joint retreat on 9/5-7.

              B. Sunday school teaching:

                       i.  After 6/7, Briant will teach the youth life based topics  with one book in the bible.

                     ii.   6/14 Sunday school:

                        – Timothy Chen was in Briant’s bible study class.  The content is  “Putting hold on God” ( 2 Cor.)

                        – Briant invited Jojo to his class.  Jojo told him that she had to teach the kids, so she left Briant’s class.

            C.  6/20 Sat. night: Briant will bring youth from Hui’s house to church for activitites such as games, Pinpong.  Flora will e-mail Hui’s address to Briant.

           D. 6/22-26 Briant will not be at CCC.  Briant will try to come back to church on 6/26 Friday night to teach youth who do not attend short mission.

           E. 7/3, 7/10 Friday night fellowship: Briant will prepare teaching materials for youth who do not attend short mission.

           F. 7/5, 7/12, 7/19 Sunday school: Brinat will prepare teaching for Timothy & Jojo.

           G. 7/21 Tuesday Pastoral meeting is cancelled due to short term mission.

           H. 7/24 Friday night fellowship is cancelled.

           I. After 7/24: Briant will prepare Sunday school & Fri. night fellowship teaching materials for all the youth.

  3.  Pastoral meeting’s response to Sister Cerina & Brother Albert’s e-mail(see Attachment 1)教牧同工會的回應:

         A. 感謝神！ 讓惠強弟兄和竹瑛姊妹有一顆關心與服事教會的心。

          B.鑑於竹瑛與惠強所提出來的事項，看起來關係到教會的許多方面，包括教會的運作、結構與方向。教牧同工會鼓勵執事們為此禱告，繼續摸索神在CCC的旨意及帶領。

          C. 若是執事們有時間，請讀一讀近期的教牧同工會的會議記錄，我們相信這對彼此之間的相互了解溝通會有一定的幫助，也特別是幫助我們的無用與無能，能夠透過你們的憐憫、幫助及指導，使我們這些愚鈍的僕人得著一個成長與學習的機會。

          D. 我們建議透過執事會開會的方式來作一個決定，使得竹瑛姊妹的建議及惠強弟兄在college students事工的實施有一個合神心意的基礎。教牧同工會為此向神獻上感恩。

 

  4.  Pastor Don’s issue:

        Per Deacon Board’s discussion, Pastor Wang called Pastor Don to ask his willingness to come back to CCC due to his late seminary application got rejected for this school year.  Pastor Don said he will pray with Amy and give the answer on Wed. night 6/17.  

  5. Tentative interview with Brother John Woell on 6/21

         A. Depending on Pastor Don’s answer on 6/17 Wed. night.

         B.  Deacon Board please stay after Sunday worship to interview with Brother John Woell.

 

  6. 3^rd qtr. serving roster

        — Youth roster: pastoral staffs will prepare the youth roster and let Kirsten to follow up with the youth.

       — Flora will ask Sister Mary’s help to review of the roster.

  7.  Youth ministry

         A. Sunday worship speaker:

                             i.                6/21: John Woell (confirmed) (Sermon title: How to prepare your heart for God’s calling?)

                           ii.                6/28 : Pastor Wang will preach at Joint worship

                        iii.                7/5: Pastor Wang will preach at joint worship.

                         iv.                7/12: Chris Reese (confirmed)  Sermon title: “The Calling to youth from God”  Scriptures: 1 Samuel 3:1-18.

                           v.                7/19: to be determined John Woell (pending)

                         vi.                7/26: Pastor Wang will preach.  Joint worship & joint mission testimony (3 min. per person)

                        vii.                8/2: Pastor Wang will preach at joint worship.

                      viii.                8/9, 8/16, 8/23, 8/30: to be determined

        B.  Friday night fellowship

                             i.                6/5 – 7/24: worship for Sunday’s songs, mission training & teaching by Briant to youth who do not participate mission training (Jo Jo, Timothy).

                           ii.                7/31 – 8/28: Worship, message from Braint

       C.  Sunday school:

                             i.                5/31 -7/19: Briant will lead the Sunday school for youth who do not participate mission training (Jo Jo, Timothy).  Briant will teach them life based topics.

                           ii.                7/26 -8/30: Briant will teach all the youth.

 

  8.  Pastor Wang will daft 3 invitation letters to 劉同蘇牧師, 洪予健牧師representing DFW Chinese Baptist churches joint ministry chairperson to invite them to be the speakers for 2010 & 2011 joint retreat & joint outreach.

  9.  6/21 1:30pm Baptism at Woodlake Baptist Church

1. Pianist: Mengpei or Linda
2. Presider: Thomas

 

  10.  Reminder:             

           A.  6/28 Sunday 2pm mission committee will meet Steve Marshall at la Madelene.

           B.  Joint retreat Cabin Rent $2500 and cleaning deposit of $400 (Total $2900) will be mailed to Sharon Baptist Church on 7/30/09.

           C.  Joint Retreat Cabin Rent: $3498.00 will be mailed on 8/20/09 to First Southern Baptist Church.

           D.  5/9/2010 Sunday:  8 DFW Chinese Baptist Churches will have a joint outreach

Cerina’s suggestion regarding Briant:

As to Briant, since he is participating in mission trip, it is not practical to say he will teach SS for the youth that are not going to the trip. 

My suggestions:

(1)    Youth are not going to Mission trip SS time: Yesterday, I have Joanne sit in Linda’s class as a helper, she seems have more fun and feel more useful in helping the adults and younger kids.

(2)    Briant need guidance: 

(A)   I suggest to have someone lead/guide Briant.  Maybe we can get the college kids work together with him as a team, give him a support group, this way he will have a good memory with CCC and willing to come back to CCC to serve again.  To him we are not an employee and employer relationship.

(B)   Please have Albert talk to Alex and Chandy, ask them to take the lead and help out ( I suggest let Albert, because he could communicate better in English with them and plus they respect him highly.  Thomas and I are better play the rolls as parents not co-workers).  We have many college students need nourish as well.  Don’t let them get lost, while they are home for summer. Remember, Briant is only an intern not a professional/experienced youth director.  Our goal is to train this young man to know how to serve not just put him here or there.  Otherwise after 3 months, he will still feel lost. We waste his time and our time. More importantly, we did not do a good job in managing God’s resource. We know the chance of training a young man to be God’s servant in future might not come back to knock our door the second time.

Albert’s response to Cerina:

Love fund to the Lee family, we will announce in the bulletin that we will continue our support to the family until the end of the year. 

Flora, please post this in the announcement.

 

Regarding youth ministry during this interim, I will check with Alex and Chandy and see if they have the heart for the youth ministry, at least to work with Briant until we find another replacement.

 

College fellowship: I will check with Phillip and see if he has the heart to round up the college student and meet regularly during the summer break.  If not, I will talk to Wendy and see if she is willing to coordinate these gathering.

 

I know Pastor Wang is looking after Briant, we will just wait for Pastor Wang and see if there is any need for us to help Briant to prepare for his future ministry.
